Math? And podTheatre?

Yes, you can teach math while creating podTheatre productions.

Math in the Science

Science lessons in the upper grade levels might include math in several ways.

Waves are described using mathematics. Concepts such as frequency and amplitude are used in various equations.

Digital sound and music files are created using very complex mathematics. While the complete theories and equations might be beyond the scope of most K-12 classrooms, even at the secondary level, the basic concepts can definitely be discussed as a way to illustrate how math is all around us. Compression algorithms are incresingly important in our data-driven society.

Math in Writing!

Writing a timed script requires a lot of care and calculation. Scriptwriters need to be accutely aware of how long scenes and acts can be, especially in radio and television. In broadcasting the clock is very important: a half-hour show is 20 to 22 minutes long. In radio, this is often shorter: 18 to 20 minutes is not uncommon due to such features as "news blocks" at the top of hour.

Students could research how many words a minute are spoken by actors. They could then determine how many lines of text are equal to a minute of podTheatre.
